Salon Tutor

The Mango Tree sponsored Seline aged 23 years old in the year 2007. She attended Kobala Primary and later Nyandoche Secondary School where she did K.C.S.E in 2016. She later joined Community Service Volunteer which first she started at Rakwaro chief's camp and later at Konyach Primary.

Because of pregnancy, she could not proceed to the next level of education (college) since she had to take care of the child. Seline recounts, "I later learned the difficulties outside and came back for they say that chien ki yany meaning do not despise a hand that has fed you". She later heard that there was a plan of starting an apprenticeship that could only go for six months for the girls and did a soul searching to come and ask for forgiveness for the disappointment she caused.

Seline joined The Royalty Beauty Parlour and barbershop along Lida-Dan road for the six-month' course in Salon and Beauty therapy which she did alongside Computer classes. "I joined the team knowing nothing that's after wasting three good months at Homa Bay Vocational Centre", she says. She is glad that within a short period (5 months) she had learned everything that's a pedicure, manicure, facial massage, plaiting, and haircut and she is sure of doing them even if woken up in the middle of the night.

Seline is thankful to the sponsors of The Mango Tree Kenya and the Director for having given them a second chance to gain skills that help uplift their lives as girls. Much appreciation also she gives to their tutor, Madam Dorothy for her enormous heart of considering them as her children, and the entire staff of The Mango Tree for always checking on them every day on their welfare.

Seline is currently retained as one of the tutors for the girls who are undergoing the same apprenticeship program.
